About Us

Green Mountain Behavioral Medicine was founded by Joshua Schupp-Star, PA-C shortly following his graduation from PA School with the intent of providing quality psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care to his fellow vermonters. This was done with the guidance and support of many of his connections in the field and the ongoing mentorship from the medical director Dr. Dustin Dippen, MD - a board certified psychiatrist. The treating philosophy of the organization follows from Josh's two decades in the Mental health / human services field - and centers not only on medication but also behavioral , spiritual, and fulfillment dimensions of health and wellbeing.

He is now joined by Shawn May, LICSW, PA-C - who has been serving Vermont communities for the past 25 years. He holds two clinical licenses, one as a Clinical Social Worker/psychotherapist and the other as a Certified Physician Assistant with specialties in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Psychiatry. He grew up in Vermont and find a special sense of place and belonging here. He employs a strengths-based approach to his practice of medicine and seeks a collaborative relationship with his patients. Blending the values, knowledge, and skill of a Social Worker with the medical training and experience as a Physician Assistant, he hopes to offer a well rounded psychiatric service to the patients who come seeking a greater sense of mental health and enhanced well-being.
