About Us

Ran Friedman, M.D. is a Licensed Psychiatrist and Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Friedman completed his residency in psychiatry at UT Southwestern, and he earned his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Until fully dedicating his time to caring for patients in his private clinic, Dr. Friedman provided care to patients as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he trained psychiatry residents, medical students, and physician assistant students. He continues to supervise Psychiatry Resident Physicians as a Volunteer Faculty.

Alongside his general adult psychiatry training, he has Special interest and training in treatment of Women’s Mental Health issues across the life cycle. He spent a significant time of his residency training with local and national leaders in this field, and he continues to collaborate with community and academic specialists to promote awareness and treatment of mental illness affecting women in the perinatal period.

As a former UT Southwestern Faculty, Dr. Friedman provided Emergency Psychiatric Services and Psychiatric Consultation Services to the Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Labor and Delivery unit at Parkland Hospital. In that role, and in his private practice, he has been helping women who are affected by mental illness and emotional distress at the various stages of family planning, the perinatal period, and postpartum period by optimizing their mental health.

Dr. Friedman is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Group Psychotherapy Association, the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the North Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.

He wants patients to know that “while each individual is unique in their biological makeup and the circumstances that challenge them, specialized clinical experience and Evidence-Based Psychiatry can help patients regain their optimal mental health and level of function. My goal is to deliver this optimal outcome to every patient in our clinic”
