I am the founder of Sunshine Psychiatry, dedicated to helping children and young adults in the Virginia and Maryland community reach their greatest potential by addressing their mental health challenges through expert psychotherapy and medication management. A board-certified psychiatrist and graduate of the University of Virginia and UVA School of Medicine, I have spent nearly a decade caring for children and young adults dealing with a wide range of mental health challenges including anxiety disorders, ADHD, angry outbursts, depressive disorders, autism spectrum disorders, OCD, and parent-child relational problems. Earlier in my career, I served as the Chief Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at the UVA Medical Center, having completed my residency and fellowship at UVA as well as years of pediatric psychiatry care and supervision of more junior physicians at the Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents, the UVA Child & Family Psychiatry Clinic and other clinical settings.
Sunshine Psychiatry focuses on caring for patients aged 5 to 30 through telemedicine for patients’ convenience and to leverage children’s and young adults’ ease with online interactions. We tailor our care to each patient based on comprehensive, continual evaluation of their needs – from their stressors, symptoms and medication regimen to their family and social history, support systems and life goals. We emphasize active discussion and involvement of the patients (and their parent or guardian if the patient is under 18) in care planning and want them to be empowered to make informed treatment decisions, personalized to their unique concerns and wants.
